Apleona Wolfferts Gebäudetechnik has been commissioned to install heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems as well as instrumentation and control technology at the Emschermündung sewage treatment plant in Dinslaken in the Ruhr region. Due to the renaturation and conversion of the entire Emscher river system in the region, the plant is currently being expanded and modernised. The client and operator of the sewage treatment plant is Emschergenossenschaft, Essen.
As part of the work, Apleona Wolfferts will install technical equipment in several newly constructed buildings on the 75-hectare premises of the plant. In the screening chamber, where the mechanical treatment of the waste water takes place, two heat pumps with an output of around 140 kW each will be installed and two 20-metre-long waste-water heat exchangers will be fitted in the connecting channel. The equipment will be used to recover thermal energy for heating and cooling the surrounding buildings and technical facilities at the plant. In addition, Apleona Wolfferts will install equipment made from non-corrosive stainless steel in the hall areas and in the building’s heating and ventilation control centres, and will equip the switching stations with instrumentation and control technology and with cooling and ventilation systems. In the exterior area of the grit grading building, where the grit separated from the waste water is prepared for further industrial use, the building technology specialists from Apleona will install a ventilation system. Installation of the building technology in the sewage treatment plant is expected to be completed in June 2018.
